Quit striving for goals from outside sources. Quit concentrating on beating him, her, or that person. Quit trying to be what he, she, they want you to be. Find your passion and quit wasting energy and quit worrying about what others are doing or want.
Turn your source of inspiration internal. Start doing shit for you - to better you, and only you. Then the real progress starts as 100% of your energy is focused the only place that makes a difference, on you. This even works in the team dynamic. If each individual concentrates their energy on them, the group as a whole feeds of one another’s passion and they soar.
There is nothing more inspirational than someone who has passion and real drive/focus to excel. It drags others around them to a new level. Chasing others, worrying about others, always has you trying to come up from behind. If you’re aiming to be better than the only person you can control (you) you’ll constantly be leading and breaking new ground.
